photo [belated - Yesterday’s] Outfit Picture: How To Hide Puffy Cheeks
I really wanted to somehow detract from my really puffy post-surgery cheeks… so i wore my hair wavy (VOLUME = width), put on a headband, and threw on my glasses (wide frames = less wide face)

v neck top - aeropostle (from circa 2005-6)
jeans - thrifted, H&M
flats - target
scarf - H&M
headband - J.Crew

photo [What I Wore] Date Night Outfit - ft. a beige blazer
Going out to sushi in Tucson is rarely a fancy affair - but after a week spent in flip flops and yoga pants it was fun to dress up to go out with the beau

blazer with sleeves rolled up: Xi from circa 2003
black cami: target
jeans: thrifted, H&M
patent heels: target

Should I continue doing outfit photos?

photo I got a great pair of dark purple leggings in the mail yesterday - and am REALLY excited to work them into my wardrobe this ‘fall’ - for going to class and going out.
My pair of black leader boot is practically begging to be worn with them

Since we can officially say that autumn is here I have been ruminating over some nice autumn appropriate outfits.
In particular, here are some of my autumn must haves. These are items that will serve you well not just this year but years to come. Some of them are based on current trends and some will always be in style.
1. Boots are a must for fall. Although these wouldn’t work in an office setting they are great for an autumn stroll that includes puddles or mud.
2. An oversize sweater is a must, especially for situations involving some tea and a good book.
3. A pair of great tights is a necessity. I personally love Spanx, not so much for the slimming effect (although I’ll take it) but more for the quality of the tights.
4. Leggings for autumn have been discussed at length and I think we can all agree that they are a staple. Pair with an oversize sweater and some boots and you have a chic effortless look.
5. Bib necklaces are going to be everywhere this autumn and a classic one like this will be relevant in years to come. Just make sure to keep the rest of the accessories simple.
6. Good news! Headbands are still in. One in a deep plum like this one would spice up any LBD.
7. Military inspired touches are also quite popular and there is no better way to channel it than with a fitted jacket like this one. All you need is a crisp white tee, jeans, and boots and you are good to go!

file under: things that make me wish I lived in cold climates …

photo All American [preppy] Style - aka something I’m trying to rock this school year. Naturally it features American Apparel as a key staple. How could it not?

Also I’m kind of obsessed with that purse. b-e-a-utiful .. and so useful for books and taking to class..

photo LOOOOOVE nautical themes. Looking for a way to incorporate some pieces into my (primarily) American Apparel+Jeans wardrobe
jackieheartsb:

Daily Inspiration : Nautical Themes
Nautical and sailor-inspired clothing/accessories come into style almost every summer, it seems. It’s for good reason too: nautical clothing is cute, cheeky and fun. It’s got a great all-American, wholesome, Ralph Lauren vibe that’s really appealing for summer style.

Thread Social Sailor Dress - $180 (from $450)

Sperry Top-Sider Sandals - $120
French Connection Striped Swimsuit - $108

Delias Waterfront Anchor Bikini - $30 per piece

Arden B. High Waist Sailor Skirt - $38

Monica Sailor Short (blue) - $16

Harajuku Lovers Platform Sandals - $73

Ralph Lauren Striped Strapless Cover-up - $61

Swarovski Crystal Starfish Earrings - $60

Loungefly Anchor Tote Bag - $44

Sterling Silver Anchor Necklace - $35

TopShop Nautical Miniskirt - $60

photo New line of jeans from GAP came out today. Having recently fulfilled my quota for skinnies, i think these “Sexy Boot Jeans” (saturated dark wash) might be a back-to-school acquisition

Leah and Alla: A Tale of Two Outfits

Yesterday Leah and I grabbed coffee in Tempe (as it is <20 miles from our respective homes). We had not seen each other since December 2008. The following is what we wore

Leah

  • purple cotton dress, deep v neck
  • pink cotton purse
  • silver metallic gladiator sandals
  • pink toenails

Alla

  • purple cotton dress, AA bandeau (tube)
  • pink leather purse
  • gold metallic gladiator sandals
  • pink toenails

the verdict: we’re the same person… OR after many months apart you can count on us to still dress alike and always look Arizona approprite/stylish

Belfast Fashion: an observation

things I noticed include, but are not limited to:

  • black opaque tights under denim cutoffs
  • flats with said tights
  • layering with short jackets
  • platform heels
  • short shorts
  • short dresses
  • short skirts (seeing a trend? … there is alot of bare leg shown)
  • fedoras on guys
  • Abercrombie and Fitch (who knew?)
  • skinny jeans
  • thick black framed glasses
  • outrageously-high heels
  • track/warm up pants on guys

things I didn’t see much of (of just didn’t notice)

  • throwback sneakers
  • baseball hats
  • wedges
  • strappy/summery gladiator sandals
  • dresses that hit below the knee
  • frayed denim cutoffs worn on their own
  • sweatshirts
  • school pride apparel
  • girls wearing jeans out to the bars/clubs

My American Apparel-esque Party

  • rene: i mean, that is THE place to go
  • Alla: most people, if they didn't get their stuff at a thrift store, hit up AA
  • rene: you're actually just doing your friends favors
  • Alla: it's true
  • Alla: gently pushing them on the road toward American Apparel addition...
  • rene: making them buy aa is like making sure someone continues to buy cool insurance. you never know when you'll be in an emergency and need to pull out that deep v, or briefs, or even polka dot onezies.
